ADANA, Turkey (AA) - Three PKK terrorists were sentenced to over a thousand year in prison each for their involvement in a deadly 2016 terror attack in southern Turkey, according to a judicial source on Wednesday.

The 12th Heavy Penal Court in the southern Adana province sentenced Eyup Celik -- a so-called PKK representative of the Mediterranean metropolis --, Mehmet Emin Vural, and Ihsan Tasdelen to 1,100 years in prison each over the charges of disrupting unity and territorial integrity of the state and deliberate killing.

The same hearing also handed out various terms for another 18 PKK terrorists behind bars ranging from five years to almost 29 years.

On Dec. 24, 2016, two people were killed and 33 others were injured when a bomb-laden car at the parking lot of governorate of Adana was detonated by the PKK terrorists.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including many women and children.
