Turkish documentary on Afghan women awarded at Tokyo film fest
Produced by Turkish public broadcaster, documentary directed by Zeynep Kececiler focuses on challenges Afghan women face

ISTANBUL (AA) - A documentary on Afghan women by Turkiye's public broadcaster was named best feature documentary at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
The documentary, named "Afgan Kadini (The Afghan Woman)" and produced by TRT, was directed by director Zeynep Kececiler, featuring the struggle of women in the war-torn country.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Kececiler highlighted the challenges that Afghani women had to endure.
"Especially now, my main character is in a very difficult situation because of what's going on in the country. But, they're still fighting for their girls to (be able to) go to school," she said.
The documentary was previously awarded in the 2020 Sicily Independent Film Awards and Sweden Film Awards.
