Turkish FM congratulates new Senegalese counterpart

Mevlut Cavusoglu holds telephone talk with Aissata Tall Sall

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu congratulated new Senegalese Foreign Minister Aissata Tall Sall on her post via telephone Thursday.

Sall, 63, is the first woman to lead the prestigious ministry in the West African country.

She was a spokeswoman for the previous government of President Abdou Diouf where she also served as communication minister from 1998 to 2000.

Sall was also a member of parliament and mayor of Podor in northern Senegal.

She was appointed Nov. 1. after President Macky Sall dissolved the government Oct. 28 without explanation.

He appointed a new Cabinet last Sunday made up of 33 ministers and four secretaries of state.
