Cavusoglu has 'working breakfast' with Michael Flynn, officials

By Michael Hernandez

WASHINGTON (AA) - Turkey's Foreign Minister said Wednesday he met with incoming U.S. National Security Advisor, retired Gen. Michael Flynn, and other officials.

Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted he had a "working breakfast" but it was not immediately clear who else was in attendance,

He has said he hopes relations between Ankara and the Washington would gain momentum with the new U.S. administration.

Expected to be on Cavusoglu’s agenda while in Washington is the extradition of Fethullah Gulen, whom Turkey says is leading a group that seeks to overthrow the Turkish state.

According to Turkey’s government, the Fetuallah Terror Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader orchestrated the defeated coup last July that left at least 248 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara has also said FETO is behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
