ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces seized arms and ammunition belonging to the PKK terror group in an anti-terror operation in northern Iraq, Turkish authorities said on Friday.
The National Defense Ministry said the security forces found the hidden ammunition during the reconnaissance and surveillance activities in the Avashin-Basyan region.
Four AK-47 Kalashnikov infantry rifles, one M-16 infantry rifles, one RPG-7 rocket launchers, seven grenades, one implovised explosive power supply, one night-vision camera and a large amount of life supply were among items seized in five caves used by the PKK.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
