Turkish gun maker becomes main sponsor shooting competition in Europe

ISTANBUL (AA) - A Turkish gun producer, Canik, became the main sponsor of the International Defensive Pistol Association's (IDPA) European Championship in Italy on November 10-13.

Some 600 shooters worldwide, including Turkish shooting clubs, will compete in the major event.

Utku Aral, general manager of Canik's parent company SYS, said the firm is not only a brand for the military but also for professional sports shooters globally.

He stressed that the company supports the field of athletic shooting both in Türkiye and throughout the world.

"The Canik Team became the champion and won the cup at the United States Practical Shooting Association's Carry Optics Nationals, the most prestigious sporting shooting competition in the US and the North American continent, with its award-winning pistol SFx RIVAL," Aral added.

Aral said: "We are able to establish close relationships with users by leading such organizations both in our country and in different countries.
"Thus, we continue to develop superior firearms with the feedback received by our engineers."

He noted the firm continues to enrich the Turkish defense industry with innovative products and exports.
