ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s ruling party is gathering at a retreat in the capital Ankara this weekend to plan its next steps on the economy, justice system, and foreign policy, among other subjects.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also chairs the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party, will lead the party's consultation and evaluation camp in Kizilcahamam town of capital Ankara.

Government ministers and top officials and members of the party's councils and commissions will attend the two-day camp, which will start with an address by Erdogan.

Vice Chairs Erkan Kandemir and Mahir Unal will give a briefing on the work at AK Party headquarters.

Naci Bostanci, head of the AK Party's parliamentary group, will also give a briefing on the party’s work in parliament, and Vice President Fuat Oktay will give a presentation on the presidential system, some two years after it came into effect.

Later Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will tell about the work and plans of their respective ministries.

Their presentations come amid work on Turkey’s Judicial Reform Document as well as foreign policy initiatives in such areas as Syria and the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Sunday, Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak will deliver a speech on the economy, just days after unveiling the nation’s new economic program for 2020-2022.

The meeting will end with a closing statement by Erdogan.
