Turkish movie Ayla released in South Korea

The award winning movie, based on a true story, was released on Oct. 27, 2017 in Turkey

ISTANBUL (AA) - The South Korea premiere of Ayla: The Daughter of War, an acclaimed Turkish film set during the Korean War, was organized in Seoul on Thursday.

The premiere of the film, which tells the story of Turkish sergeant Suleyman Dilbirligi and a five-year-old orphan girl that he found during the Korean War in 1950, was attended by 1,200 people at CGV IP Park Mall in central Seoul.

The movie director Can Ulkay, leading actor Ismail Hacioglu, child actress Kim Seol and 75-year-old real Ayla Kim Eunja were also among the participants of the premiere.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Seoul Ersin Ercim, South Korean National Defense Minister Song Yong-Moo and Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Pi Woo-Jin were also present at the screening of the film.

The movie has been released in 320 cinema halls in South Korea.

The war drama was released on Oct. 27, 2017 in Turkey.

It won the Best Foreign Film and Best of Fest awards on March at the 24th Sedona International Film Festival held in the U.S.
