By Selma Kasap

ANKARA (AA) - The justice ministers of Turkey and North Macedonia met on Tuesday in the Turkish capital Ankara.

In a statement, the Turkish Justice Ministry said that Turkey’s Abdulhamit Gul and North Macedonia’s Bojan Marichikj discussed judicial relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the statement said, Gul highlighted Turkey’s recent legal and human rights reforms as well as the importance of cooperation in the fight against acts of terror and terrorist groups, especially FETO.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and 2,734 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.

Marichikj, for his part, said North Macedonia was ready to cooperate in all fields and supports Turkey’s fight against terrorism.

He said they were closely monitoring steps taken to digitize the judiciary in Turkey.

Gul said that Turkey was ready to provide all kinds of support to North Macedonia for both digitization and judge/prosecutor training.
