Turkish parliament head meets Serbian counterpart

Turkey’s Mustafa Sentop, Serbia’s Ivica Dacic applaud improving bilateral, economic relations between 2 countries

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's parliament speaker on Monday met with his Serbian counterpart in the capital Ankara.

"I attach importance to the establishment of our deepening relations in all fields among our parliamentarians, the representatives of our peoples," Mustafa Sentop said during his meeting with Serbia's Ivica Dacic.

Sentop said that the bilateral trade and economic relations are rapidly developing between the two countries, adding that the trade volume is approaching $2 billion in the short term.

"Under the leadership of our president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan], we are pleased to see that our relations have reached the best level in history,” he added.

Dacic, for his part, said that the economic relations between the two countries have improved significantly.

"There are 400 Turkish companies (operating) in Serbia. In the last 10 years, direct investment from Turkey has reached €200 million ($236 million)," he said.
