By Sertac Bulur
ANKARA (AA) – Turkish police arrested 16 suspects in the capital Ankara allegedly linked to the Daesh/ISIS terror group, security sources said on Thursday.
Anti-terror police in coordination with the national intelligence service arrested 16 out of 19 Iraqi nationals sought over links to Daesh/ISIS and conflict regions, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The police continue the search for the remaining suspects, it added.
Turkey was one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terror group in 2013.
The country has since been attacked by Daesh/ISIS terrorists multiple times. The terror group has carried out at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed attacks, killing 315 people and injuring hundreds more.
In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
