Turkish policeman succumbs to injuries in southeast

HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) - A policeman succumbed to his injuries at a state hospital in southeastern Hakkari province on Wednesday, according to provincial governor’s office.

In a statement, Hakkari Governor’s Office said the policeman had been injured during an operation against PKK terrorist organization in Ogul Koyu area in the central district of the province.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015.
