Turkish poultry output declines in October

Turkey's chicken meat production decreases while hen egg output rises on a yearly basis

ANKARA (AA) - Chicken meat output in Turkey slipped 2.1 percent year-on-year in October, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported on Thursday.

According to TurkStat, in contrast the country's chicken egg production rose 2.1 percent on a yearly basis in October.

On a monthly basis, chicken meat and hen egg production climbed 9.6 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.

TurkStat added that turkey meat production rose 14.6 percent year-on-year, but slipped 3.8 percent on a monthly basis.

"The number of chickens slaughtered increased by 6.6 percent in October compared with the previous month, and decreased by 5 percent compared with the same month of the previous year," TurkStat added.
