Turkish president, NATO chief discuss anti-terror fight

Erdogan and Jens Stoltenberg discuss the situation of the NATO alliance over the phone as well

ANKARA (AA) - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized on Turkey’s determination to fight against terrorism during his talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg late Wednesday, according to a presidential source Thursday.

Erdogan and Stoltenberg also discussed the general situation of the NATO alliance, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said on Thursday.

The conversation also drew attention to the importance of allied countries taking a sincere and active role in Turkey's fight against terror, the source added.

Turkey, a NATO member since 1952, has the second-largest military power in the alliance, after the United States, and is a key ally.

Erdogan also spoke with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev and congratulated him over his success in the election. Both leaders expressed their resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
