Turkish private sector's foreign debt at $160.9B in September

Outstanding external loans of private sector drop $7.8B from end-2021, says Türkiye's Central Bank

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish private sector's outstanding foreign loans amounted to $160.9 billion as of the end of September, the country's Central Bank announced on Wednesday.

Private sector's total outstanding loans received from abroad dropped $7.8 billion from end-2021, the bank data showed.

Short-term loans – excluding trade credits – of the sector received from abroad in the same period reached $7.5 billion, down $39 million, while long-term loans fell $7.8 billion to $153.5 billion

The private sector's total outstanding loans received from abroad, based on a remaining maturity basis, point to principal repayments of $42.1 billion for the next 12 months by the end of September.
