Turkish soldier martyred in SE Turkey

BATMAN, Turkey (AA) - A Turkish soldier was martyred on Friday during clashes with the PKK terrorist group in southeastern Batman province, according to a security source.

The clashes took place in Mava mount in Hasankeyf district, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Security forces later launched an operation in the area to nab terrorists.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
