Turkish soldier succumbs to injuries

VAN, Turkey (AA) - A Turkish soldier, who was injured in a PKK rocket attack in southeastern Hakkari province on June 14, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Van province on Thursday, security sources said.

PKK terrorists carried out the attack on a military convoy, which was passing from a military command in Hakkari’s Cukurca district, bordering northern Iraq.

A soldier was martyred and four others were wounded in the attack, according to an official statement released on June 14.

Resul Bayraci, one of the injured soldiers, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital in Van province, sources said.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and EU.

In its terror campaign against Turkey, which has lasted for more than three decades, over 40,000 people have been killed, including women and children.
