Turkish solider martyred after hit by avalanche

HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) - A Turkish soldier was martyred and another injured after they were hit by an avalanche in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday, provincial governor's office said in a statement.

The soldiers were on the way to repair a damaged water tank at a military base in Semdinli district, according to a security source.

Following the incident, both of the soldiers were taken into Yuksekova Public Hospital, where one of them was announced dead, said the sources on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
