Turkish stock exchange closes day on positive side

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 130 points at Thursday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,193.69 points, up 1.45% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 9,100.27 points, earned 133.33 points from the midweek's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,089.18, while its daily high was 9,214.59.

Some 67 indices increased in value, while 28 declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 130 billion Turkish liras ($4.15 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.85 trillion liras ($252.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.2280 as of 6.30 p.m. (1530GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate stood at 33.9730 and the GBP/TRY traded at 39.5890.

An ounce of gold was at $2,055.90, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.10.
