Turkish stock exchange down at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index down 47.1 points at Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 8,860.52 points, down 0.53% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 8,913.41 points and ended it down 47.13 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,814.80, while its daily high was 8,970.75.

Some 57 indexes rose in value, while 39 were down.

The total transaction volume reached 120 billion Turkish liras ($3.79 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.56 trillion liras ($241 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.6240 as of 6.40 pm (1540GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.4320, and the GBP/TRY traded at 40.2290.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,139.50, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.20.
