Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 116.7 points at Tuesday’s close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the day at 9,040.87 points on Tuesday, down 1.27% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 9,186.00 points, the BIST 100 index lost 116.67 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,993.46, while its daily high was 9,266.01.

A total of 23 indices gained value, while 76 declined by the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 104 billion Turkish liras ($3.24 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.74 trillion liras ($239.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.0730 as of 6.50 p.m. (1650GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.5780, and the GBP/TRY traded at 40.3480.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,257.70, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $89.30.
