Benchmark BIST 100 index earns around 212 points at Tuesday’s close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the day at 8,929.88 points on Tuesday, up 2.43% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,702.35 points, earned 211.77 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,695.39, while its daily high was 8,934.25.

Some 85 indices increased in value, while 14 declined at the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 84 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.58 trillion liras ($235.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.3445 as of 6.15 p.m. (1615GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.1580, and the GBP/TRY traded at 41.0010.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,162.05, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $85.75.
