Turkish stock exchange up at weekly close

Benchmark BIST 100 index up over 62 points at Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,142.40 points, up 0.69% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index had started the day at 9,125.29 points, earning 62.43 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,055.66, while its daily high was 9,154.31.

Some 72 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 25 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 93 billion Turkish liras ($2.88 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.77 trillion liras ($241 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.3950 as of 19.10 p.m. (1610GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.0350, while the GBP/TRY traded at 41.0210.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,233.10, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $87.60.
