Turkish stock market closes lower on Friday

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul closed at 2,372.35 points on Friday, with daily loss of 0.89%.

Starting the day at 2,389.71 points, the index fell 21.26 points from Wednesday's close of 2,393.61. Borsa Istanbul remained closed on Thursday as Turkiye observed the Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,835.55 by market close, up from $1,820.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.28% to $112.34 per barrel as of 6.37 p.m. local time (1537GMT).
