Turkish stock market down at Thursday open

BIST 100 index falls by 30.96 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 1,920.21 points on Thursday, down 30.96 points, or 1.6%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index rose 0.31% to close Wednesday at 1,951.17 points, with a daily trading volume of 23.5 billion liras ($1.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 13.6162 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 13.5700 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate fell to 15.2713 from 15.3280, while a British pound traded for 18.2764 Turkish liras, down from 18.3910.

Brent crude oil sold for around $88.09 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
