Turkish stock market ends 2-day losing streak on Wednesday

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye’s benchmark stock index closed at 2,408.15 points on Wednesday, ending its two-day losing streak.

Starting the day at 2,389.11 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 36.90 points, or 1.56%, from Tuesday’s close of 2,371.25 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,370.13 points, while its daily high was 2,411.10 points, as 81 stocks on the index rose, 16 fell, and three were unchanged compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of around 1.9 trillion Turkish liras ($112 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 30 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).

Conglomerate GSD Holding was the best performer with its shares up 9.92%, while stocks of oil refiner Tupras dropped the most, 4.08%.

An ounce of gold traded for $1,760 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude was around $99.8 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
