Turkish stocks down 0.50 pct at close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 0.50 percent to close at 101,289.75 points on Monday.

After opening the week at 101,822.80 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 511.67 points from the previous close.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.3130 as of the daily close, versus 5.2820 at Friday's close.

One euro traded for 6.0710 liras, up from 6.0080 at the previous close.

The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.0040 by market close, compared with last week's close of 6.9360.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,301.35 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, up from $1,284.35 at the previous close.

With a day-range of $59.91 to $61.13, the price of Brent oil was around $59.95 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday.
