Turkish stocks down 1.18 % at close

BIST 100 index decreases 1,120.39 points from Tuesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.88

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the day down 1.18 % to close at 94,137.22 points on Wednesday.

Starting the day at 93,514.71 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 1,120.39 points from Tuesday's close of 95,257.61 points.

An ounce of gold sold for $1,485.50 at the weekly close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,494.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was $58.95 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT) on Wednesday -- with a day range of $58.37 to $59.06.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil sold for around $53.
