Turkish stocks down at Friday's close

BIST 100 index loses over 10 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,468.67 points on Friday, decreasing 0.71% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,480.53 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 10.45 points from Thursday's close of 1,479.12 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,464.80 points, while its daily high was 1,482.11 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($134 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

A total of 33 stocks on the index rose, 59 fell, and eight were unchanged compared to Thursday's close.

An ounce of gold traded for $1,831.20 by market close, up from $1,813.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $72.94 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
