Turkish stocks down over 5% at Wednesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Wednesday at 4,728.88 points, down 5.19% from the previous close.

Starting Wednesday at 5,005.61 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 259.11 points from the previous close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 4,728.88, while its daily high was 5,091.32.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 3.83 trillion Turkish liras ($204.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 94.59 billion Turkish liras ($5.03 billion).

During the day, three stocks on the index rose and 97 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,876.45, while Brent crude oil was around $81.38 per barrel as of 6.50 p.m. local time (1550 GMT).
