Turkish stocks flat at daily close

BIST 100 index falls 24.59 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 6.02

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday flat with a 0.03% decline to close at 86,771.47 points.

After starting the first business day of the week at 86,894.95 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 24.59 points from 86,796.06 points at Friday's close.

Last week, the benchmark index posted a 1.96% decline. At the beginning of this year, the BIST 100 stood around 89,000 points.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,278.85 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,286.30 at last week's close.

The price of Brent oil was $72.66 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday -- with a day range of $72.06 to $73.41.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
