Turkish stocks flat at Friday open

BIST 100 index rises 54.26 points from Thursday close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.68

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Friday up 0.05% or 54.26 points to open at 99,460.70 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose by 0.83% to close the day at 99,406.44 points with a daily trading volume of 6.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6820 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, as it was 5.6670 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4040, compared to 6.3930, and one British pound traded for 7.1430 Turkish liras, versus 7.1270.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $67.04 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
