Turkish stocks flat at midweek open

BIST 100 index marginally down 0.04 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,536.07 points on Wednesday, marginally down by 0% or 0.04 points compared to the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index on Tuesday fell 0.27% to close the day at 1,536.11 points, with a daily trading volume of 31.9 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4.34 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 7.3560 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 7.3530 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was marginally up to 8.9480 from 8.9420, while one British pound traded for 10.1090 Turkish liras, up from 10.0970 at Tuesday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $56.02 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
