Turkish stocks flat at Tuesday opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,391.44 points on Tuesday, down 0.02% or 0.30 points from the previous close.

At Monday’s close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.51% to 1,391.74 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.8310 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 8.8270 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.3180 versus 10.3270, while one British pound traded for 12.1250 Turkish liras, down from 12.1430.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $79.77 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
