Turkish stocks looking down at Friday opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index falls some 4.6 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,029.79 points on Friday, down 4.61 points or 0.45% from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index slipped 5.26% to 1,034.40 points with a daily trading volume of 23.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.2960 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, up from Thursday's closing rate of 7.2940.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.6480, versus 8.6360, and one British pound was traded for 9.5980 Turkish liras. It was 9.8480 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $44.86 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
