Turkish stocks start Friday 0.22% up

BIST 100 index rises 227.12 points from Thursday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.68

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Friday up 0.22% or 227.12 points to open at 102,272.12 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 1.37% to close the day at 102,044.99 points with a daily trading volume of 9.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.16 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6890 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, as it was 5.6990 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3420, versus 6.3850, and one British pound traded for 7.0880 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1390.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $63.48 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT) on Friday.
