Turkish stocks start week down

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened the week at 2,004.87 points on Monday, falling 6.29 points, or 0.31%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index went down by 0.15% on Friday to close the week at 2,011.16 points, with a daily trading volume of 30.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 13.4285 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 13.3970 at the previous close.

The euro/lira exchange rate stood at 15.2040 from 15.2050, while a British pound traded for 18.1863 liras, up from 18.1820.

Brent crude oil was sold for around $87.65 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
