Turkish stocks up at midweek's open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5.274.94 points on Wednesday, up 0.36%, or 18.75 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1.21% to close Tuesday at 5,256.19 points, with a daily trading volume of 142 billion Turkish liras ($7.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.6474 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 19.8088, and a British pound traded for 23.0320 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $80.50 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,820.50.
