Turkish stocks up at open

Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index starts day with rise of 0.49%

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 107,787.94 points on Tuesday, up by 0.49%, or 521.75 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.65% to close the day at 107,266.19 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.97 billion Turkish liras ($2.05 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.8120 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared to 6.8220 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also dropped to 7.5800 from 7.5910, and one British pound traded for 8.5440 Turkish liras, versus 8.5130 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $38.66 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
