Turkish stocks up at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.37% from midweek close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.60

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Thursday up 0.37% or 367.64 points to open at 99,730.96 points.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell by 0.84% to close at 99,363.32 points with a daily trading volume of 6.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.16 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.6060 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.6330 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3360, versus 6.3630, and one British pound traded for 7.0700 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1070.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for some $63.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
