Turkish stocks up at opening

BIST 100 index up 0.64% from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 5.60

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 0.64% or 626.34 points to open at 98,963.19 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 4.13% and closed the day at 98,336.85 points with a daily trading volume of 8.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.6010 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 5.5970 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.2970, versus 6.2890 at Thursday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.3620 Turkish liras, compared to 7.3630 on Thursday.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $69.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
