Turkish stocks up at opening session

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gains around 23 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5,211.76 points on Friday, up 0.44%, or 22.94 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 2.41% to close Thursday at 5,188.82 points, with a daily trading volume of 124 billion Turkish liras ($6.64 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.6499 as of 10.11 a.m. local time (0711GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 19.8782, and a British pound traded for 22.7542 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $81.22 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,793.55.
