ANKARA (AA) - A group of students from Turkey completed renovation of a kindergarten in Libya on Wednesday, as part of a visit under an exchange program.
The 2017 Africa Experience Sharing Program has seen 200 students visit several African countries, including Tunisia, Libya, Somalia, Kenya, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Ghana and Niger from Aug. 5 to 30.
As part of the visit, the volunteers renovated the kindergarten named “Isbilia” in the capital Tripoli. The school has a capacity for 150 students.
Thanks to the contribution of the volunteers, students between the ages of 4 and 6 would have the opportunity to go to a modern school, which is a symbol of the friendship between Turkey and Libya.
The students visited the University of Tripoli, which has a capacity for approximately 75,000 students.
They also met Turkish Ambassador in Tripoli Ahmet Aydin Dogan, who shared information about the country’s policy, history, culture and socio-economic situation with the students.
The volunteers also visited a hospital built by the 34th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire Abdulhamid II in 1898 and attended a folk dancing show organized at the yard of the hospital.
The last stop of the Turkish students was al Hamra palace, known as Red Castle, which was used as an administrative center of Tripoli state during the Ottoman era.
After completing their voluntary works, the students returned to Turkey.
