TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) - Turkish university students launched a visit to Tunisia on Tuesday by founding six science workshops.

The students’ first stop was a visit to Monastir Sciences Palace, south of the capital Tunis, where they undertook physics and chemistry experiments with Tunisian students.

Chemistry teacher Busra Bulus told Anadolu Agency they founded six workshops on physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, technology and invention.

The program also founded a fabrication laboratory (fab lab) that includes high-tech equipment such as 3D printers, a CNC counter, laser cutting machines and digital measurement tools.

“The fab lab is a rare laboratory that allows children and science buffs to make their dreams come true,” said Muhsin Balci, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA)’s coordinator to Tunisia, speaking at an opening ceremony.

The Turkish students arrived in Tunisia as part of a 2017 Africa Experience Sharing Program that provides an opportunity for 200 young people to visit several African countries, including Ethiopia, Libya, Somalia, Kenya, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Ghana and Niger from Aug. 5 to 30.

This program is being organized by TIKA in cooperation with Turkish Airlines, Anadolu Agency and state broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television (TRT).
