ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye on Monday advised its citizens to avoid travel to Yemen.
“Due to the currently unfavorable security conditions in Yemen, our citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to this country except for mandatory situations,” a Foreign Ministry statement said.
“It is recommended that our citizens continue to follow the additional warnings and announcements that may be made by our Ministry and the Embassy in Sanaa, and in any case be careful and cautious about their personal safety,” the statement added.
Yemen has been engulfed by violence and instability since 2014, when the Houthis captured much of the country, including Sanaa.
A Saudi-led coalition aimed at reinstating the Yemeni government has worsened the situation, causing one of the world’s worst man-made humanitarian crises, with nearly 80% or around 30 million people needing humanitarian assistance and protection and more than 13 million in danger of starvation, according to UN estimates.
