Türkiye chairs meeting of MIKTA foreign ministers in Indonesia

Foreign ministers discuss latest developments in Ukraine, food security, migration and other issues, says top Turkish diplomat

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish foreign minister on Thursday chaired the 21st meeting of MIKTA foreign ministers in Indonesia.

“At the Foreign Ministers Meeting of #MIKTA chaired by Türkiye. We discussed; Latest developments in Ukraine, Food security, Migration and other issues on our common agenda,” Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Twitter, sharing photos from the meeting.

Established in 2013, MIKTA is an informal partnership made up of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkiye, and Australia. All five countries in the group are G-20 members.

Cavusoglu is in Indonesia to attend the G-20 foreign ministers meeting.

Türkiye took over MIKTA's rotating presidency from Australia in March.

Bali is hosting the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on July 7-8 under the theme "Building a more peaceful, stable, and prosperous world together."

Indonesia is the current chair of the G-20, which comprises the world’s largest economies including Russia, the world’s most sanctioned country.
