Turkiye-Chile Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group head awarded Order of Merit

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish parliament's Turkiye-Chile Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group head Orhan Kircali was awarded the Chilean Bernardo O'Higgins Order of Merit on Friday.

Chile's Ambassador to Turkiye Rodrigo E. Arcos Castro, Justice and Development (AK) Party Deputy Chairman Cigdem Karaaslan, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Bulent Turan and guests attended the ceremony held at the residence of the Chilean Embassy in Ankara.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Chilean diplomat said that he was honored to present the award to Kircali, who has contributed to strengthening of the ties between the two countries for more than six years.

Emphasizing that inter-parliamentary relations are critical in terms of reinforcing national interests and political dialogue, Castro said "Kircali became an important link between Chile and Turkiye by taking an active role as the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and during the pandemic."
