ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces on Tuesday confiscated over 1.6 million cannabis roots in the country's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

"During the ongoing Operation Eren Abluka-34 that is being carried out by the Interior Ministry, over 1.6 million more cannabis roots and 28 kg (61 Ibs) of powder marijuana were confiscated," according to a statement by the Interior Ministry.

In the last three days of the operation against the PKK terror group, over 10.5 million cannabis roots, 803 kg (1770 Ibs) of marijuana and 648,000 skunk roots were confiscated, the statement added.

On the third day of the anti-narco-terror operation, security forces conducted reconnaissance at 18 pre-identified locations in the rural areas of Lice district’s Konuklu neighborhood.

Türkiye initiated the operations last year, naming them after Eren Bulbul, a 15-year-old boy killed by the PKK terror group on Aug. 11, 2017.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
