Turkiye extends condolences over death of top Ezidi official in KRG

ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – Turkiye on Thursday extended condolences over the recent death of Sheikh Shamo, a top Ezidi official in the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG).

“We are saddened with the death of Sheikh Shamo, adviser to KRG Prime Minister Masrorur Barzani for Yazidi Affairs and the head of Lalish Cultural Center. We extend our condolences to the entire Ezidi community,” Turkiye’s General Consulate in Erbil said on Twitter.

Shamo passed away at a hospital in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday, 20 days after testing positive for COVID-19.
