Türkiye runs $9.2B budget deficit in June

Budget revenues reach $11.3B, expenditures at $20.5B last month, Central Bank data shows

ANKARA (AA) — Türkiye's central government budget ran a deficit of 219.6 billion Turkish liras ($9.2 billion) last month, according to official data released on Monday.

Budget revenues came in at 268.2 billion liras ($11.3 billion), while expenditures reached 487.9 billion liras ($20.5 billion) last month, Treasury and Finance Ministry figures showed.

Non-interest expenditures totaled at 450.5 billion liras ($18.9 billion), while interest payments stood at 37.4 billion liras ($1.6 billion).

Excluding interest payments, the budget balance posted a deficit of 182.3 billion liras ($7.6 million), while tax revenues reached 231.2 billion liras ($9.7 billion).

This January-June, the budget balance saw a deficit of 483.2 billion liras ($24.5 billion).

Budget revenues reached 1.9 trillion liras ($95.3 billion) in the first half of this year, while expenditures amounted to 2.4 trillion liras ($119.7 billion).

A US dollar traded for 23.8420 liras on average in June, while amounting to 19.7395 liras on average in the first six months of 2023.
